Martin Holmes’ photographic journey began with film and darkroom work about 20 years ago. The journey was interrupted serving 4 years as a Paratrooper in the 82d Airborne and overseas deployment. He returned after that with a different, more mature and focused perspective. The post-military experience made Holmes’ work attentive to the feeling of resettlement into a fast moving society, both physically and emotionally. Each of his portfolios create a visual image of the sensation and tensions one holds inside. He maintains a studio where he creates his performance based work when he isn’t out on the streets finding locations and people for his images. Holmes, his wife, two children and cat call Katy, Texas home.
