An Exhibition of Images Selected By Lou Vest
7.26.17 – 8.31.17
Lou Vest has as unique a history as his photography. He grew up in a military family from Texas, living on Air Force bases in Texas, Japan and Florida; graduating from the Naval Academy in Annapolis in 1971. Vest joined the Merchant Marine working on ocean tugs as mate, then captain until 1986 when he was invited to join the prestigious ship pilots association in Houston. A Houston-based artist, Vest worked as a pilot for 30 years bringing ships up and down the Houston Ship Channel, into and out of Houston’s port, one of the largest and most active in the United States. He is widely collected and was named one of the “Houston 100 Creatives” in 2014 by the Houston Press.
